Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) is a Constitutional Body established Under Article 315 of Constitution of India which provides a smooth and efficient functioning of the Government of Maharashtra ("GoM") by providing suitable candidates for various Government posts.
As per Article 320 of the Constitution of India, MPSC Conducts (1) To conduct examinations for appointments to the service of Government of Maharashtra and its allied organizations.

Educational Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in any faculty of a recognized university.
Age limit
19 to 33 years - Open Category
Five yrs relaxation for SC/ST, Players (Winners of Awards)
Five yrs limitation for Ex-servicemen Army, Short service Commission
Age 45 for disabled persons.

This Examination recruits candidates for the post of Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sales Tax Officer and other Class I and II Officers
There are Three Stages: 1) Preliminary Examination 2) Main Examination 3) Interview
1) Preliminary Examination
Standard Medium Nature of Paper:
Paper I - (200 marks)::
Current events of state, national and international importance.
History of India (with special reference to Maharashtra) and Indian National Movement.
Maharashtra, India and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of Maharashtra, India and the World.
Maharashtra and India - Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Urban Governance, Public Policy, Rights issues, etc.
Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialisation.
General Science.
Paper II - (200 marks)
Comprehension
Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
Decision - making and problem - solving.
General mental ability.
Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (Charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.- Class X level)
Marathi and English Language Comprehension skills (Class X/XII level).
Note 1 : Questions relating to Marathi and English Language Comprehension skill of Class X/XII level (last item in the Syllabus of Paper II) will be tested through passages from Marathi and English language without providing cross translation thereof in the question paper.
Note 2 : The questions will be of multiple choice, objective type.
Note 3 : It is mandatory for the candidate to appear in both the Papers of State Services (Prelim) Examination for the purpose of evaluation. Therefore a candidate will be disqualified in case he / she does not appear in both the papers of State Services (Prelim) Examination.
2) Main Examination -
There shall be six compulsory papers.
Two in Languages - English and Marathi
100 Marks Each, Descriptive type questions
Four papers of General Studies
150 Marks Each, Multiple Choice Questions with 3:1 Negative Marking, Objective type questions

Indian constitution & Law, Politics (with reference to Maharashtra)

Human Resource Development and Human Rights
Paper IV

Passing Marks 45% in each of the 6 papers for open Category.
40% in each of 6 papers for reserved category SC, ST, OBCs etc.
3) Interview:
Total Marks- 100. Duration- 30 to 45min.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

- A candidate is advised to deposit his/her fees only after being thoroughly satisfied with the required enquiries.
- A candidate is advised to consider all the factors which are likely to affect his/her stay in Pune or otherwise, before paying the fees.
- Fees once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances. The same cannot be adjusted towards any other course or fees. No request will be entertained in this regard.
- If for any reason, the candidate discontinues the course, he will have no claim on refund of fees.
- All disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of Pune only.
- Prior permission is to be taken before leave.
- Fees can be paid in cash or cheque.
- All payments are to be made in advance at the time of admission.
- Three recent passport size photographs have to be submitted at the time of admission.
- Admission formalities have to be completed five days before the commencement of the batch.
- Certificate and mark sheet of graduation (if the candidate has already graduated)
- Residence proof of parents.

- The candidate shall produce following certificates along with application form in addition to other certificates required as mentioned below:
- Certificate from the Collector of the district that the candidate's parents belong to a place located in Maharashtra-Karnataka border area.
- Certificate from Head of the Institute that the candidate has passed Std. XII examination from his or her institute and mother tongue of the candidate is Marathi.
- Students who have appeared for BA, B.Sc. B.Com, B.E., MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, B.Arch. etc can take admission in CSA.
